Quality Assurance Manager (Processing Facility, Hermanus)

Aqunion (Pty) Ltd is a dynamic, growing company that farms South African abalone for the Asian market. The company currently has two farms and a processing facility in the Overberg Region.   We have a position available within our Processing Facility for a competent Quality Assurance Manager who has a passion for excellence.

Primary purpose of position

To ensure that the manufacturing process is conducted according to the prescribed quality assurance and Food Safety standards as well as compliance to various local and international laws and regulations applicable to the abalone processing industry; and assisting the Factory Manager in consistently producing the best quality product.

Key performance Areas

  • Implementation, maintenance and improvement of Quality Management Systems;
  • Food safety, hygiene, health and safety policy implementation and audit;
  • Functional planning, coordination and reporting;
  • Final product verification inspection;
  • Occupational Health and Safety administration;
  • Building analytical capability internally and externally;
  • Training factory personnel on policy, procedure and regulations
  • Assistance with Product Development projects
  • Record keeping;
  • Stakeholder liaison.

Minimum Requirements & Competencies

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification [B.Sc. / B. Tech in Food Science or Food Technology];
  • Formal training on implementation of Food Safety Systems ;
  • 5 Years’ experience in Quality Assurance in a food processing facility;
  • Practical experience and knowledge with HACCP / ISO & FSSC standards;
  • Good written and oral communication skills with fluency in English;
  • Computer literacy (Advanced) with working experience of G Suite;
  • Be willing to work overtime.
